Good weight loss

I had good weight loss. I was about 209 in February and got on some GLP-1 meds. I was around 180 by the end of the year. Say whatever you want about these new weight loss meds on the market, but this has been a significant improvement for me. Since I turned 40, I seemed to slowly be gaining about 5 pounds a year. It took effort to limit it to just 5 pounds a year. I really couldn't make much progress with losing weight and keeping it off. I got on the meds and had a pretty significant change. They are appetite suppressants. They also helped me break the mental stuff that I had with food. I am an emotional eater and eat whenever something good happens, or eat whenever something bad happens. I also am constantly thinking about food. Once I got on these meds, I was able to break the cycle. I can actually be hungry for a bit and it not be a dire fucking emergency. I am no longer thinking about my next meal. I can actually think about stuff besides food.

With this weigh loss, I did lose muscle mass. I tried to fight it, but once I started working again, I didn't have as much time to go to the gym. The overall weight loss is good, but the muscle mass loss isn't. I need to change some things up this year and focus on putting muscle back on. I know that maintaining muscle mass is important as I age so I need to focus on that again. As of now, I really haven't lifted weights in about 4 months and that needs to change. I am running a bit still, but it is pretty inconsistent unfortunately.

Last snowboard season, I got 35 days it. It was a slog at the end to hit that number. With the normal, weekend warrior Front Range schedule, 30 is about my max going forward. I wasn't enjoying it much at the end. I do want to focus on getting better at snowboarding though. I got a new board (Neversummer Proto FR) and I love it. It is a much better board for the type of rider I am now. I also got new boots and Step On bindings. All of my other gear was pretty old and worn out so time for new gear, and I love it.

For 2026, I just want to say healthy, and make some gains back with both muscle mass and cardio (running). I am still stretching which is good. My left IT band has gotten better since last year, but I keep finding new and "interesting" injuries that need to be kept in check. It is fun getting old.
