Holy Weight Fluctuations!

As I said before, Thursday I weighed 183 and 181.5 on Friday. Today, I weighed 188. Damn, my body does not like to maintain a steady weight. Damnit, this is so freaking annoying.

I eat, poop and exercise very consistently though. So while my weight fluctuates too, I can pretty much tell what I weigh based on the time of day.

Do you weigh yourself consistently? (ie, I do it in the mornings at the same time before my shower) And just out of curiosity, why do you weigh yourself so much? A lot of people suggest that weighing yourself while trying to lose weight sucks. It's better to just go on how you feel. Your weight doesn't account for muscle, water weight, stuff like that. I dont know if I agree with the whole "not weighing yourself" thing, it's just what most trainers I've talked to suggest.

I always weigh myself first thing in the morning, naked, before a shower, and after going #1 and #2.

I weigh myself to keep myself motivated and to track changes that happen. I've noticed that after I've been drinking alcohol, like after the race on Monday, my weight will be anywhere from 1-7, on average 3 lbs, higher than normal or the previous day and it'll stay that way for about 2-3 days. It is very noticeable. I've also observed that when I run in the evenings, my weight will be at least a pound less the next morning.

I used to only weigh myself on Fridays and Mondays. I stopped doing that back when I drank a decent amount during the week. Since I've cut back my alcohol intake greatly, I still have the habit of daily weighins. For the next 2 weeks, I'll go back to only Fridays and Mondays to see how my weight progresses that way. Motivation wise, I was really wanting to go out and get some beer tonight, but because my weight was so high, I didn't even eat any chocolate after lunch from the candy dish and totally skipped the beers. I've also noticed that when I'm having a "fat day", my weight will actually be up and when I'm having a "skinny day", my weight will generally be lower.

awesomeness. whatever works. If looking at the scale keeps you from eating chocolate and drinking beer, then I think it's probably a good thing to weigh yourself often - especially if those are often temptations.
